Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

The ESMBA has a clear process in place for dealing with concerns.

If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child or adult in bowls, whether the issue is inside or outside the sport contact the ESMBA lead officer, Lynn Dean,  for advice on: 01258 817432 or email lynn@esmba.co.uk. You can also contact your county safeguarding officer.

Alternatively, if your enquiry relates to an urgent child protection issue, contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 or email help@nspcc.org.uk or the CPSU on 0116 2347278 or email cpsu@nspcc.org.uk

 If your enquiry is relating to safeguarding adults, please contact the Ann Craft Trust on 0115 951 5400 or email ann-craft-trust@nottingham.ac.uk

Report Forms

Report forms are available to download from the Bowls Development Alliance Resources page, you should use safeguarding template 6,7 or 8. The form should be completed in as much detail as is known and should include where possible:

  • Name and Details of those involved
  • Dates, Times, and Venue as appropriate
  • Views and wishes of the affected party
  • Any information about potential risk
  • Details of actions taken and anyone consulted or discussed with

Once a report is received the lead safeguarding officers will establish whether the concern should follow the disciplinary procedures or the safeguarding procedures and act accordingly keeping contact with all those involved to ensure they are informed.

Safeguarding Leads in Bowls

Under the Bowls Development Alliance, all the bowls codes work together to ensure a cohesive and consistent sport wide safeguarding approach. Each has its own lead officer who are also available to help and advise.
